My first egg!

I can't believe it. ONe of my 5 mos old Silkie hens has laid an egg! I just found it this morning. And I can't believe I can get this excited over an EGG.

But, it's a beautiful little thing. I just wish I knew which of the 2 girls laid it.

When we got our first egg, I was so excited I came running back into the house screaming. We took pictures of it in the shell, cracked in a bowl, and fried up. All 3 of us shared the fried egg.

Congratulations again. You should be getting a lot from now on.

I blew out our first egg and put it in a shadow box to hang in their coop sitting in a little egg cup

Congratulations! Mine laid at 19 weeks old and they laid while I was out of town for work!

UPDATE:

When I came back inside yesterday afternoon to visit with the chickens I found another egg in the same box! So either both hens laid on the same day or the first one was laid the day before and I missed it. Just one more and I might have enough for an egg sandwich given these are bantam eggs. <g>
