My first EGGS! Which hen ?

LOL well maybe not my first first but its a first from either my barred rock girls or my new hampshire red or my maran hens??

SO which of these breeds laid this egg ??

How old are the birds in question?

Marans are known for laying a very dark brown egg.

Barred rocks and New hampshires are 6 going on 7 months old. The Marans are just now 6 months...

its a first egg though ? Couldn't size and color still vary a bit as these girls become steady ? I knew marans laid dark eggs but this one is lighter for a marans egg but I didn't know if it would still go darker when steady laying comes.

This is actually a third first egg. I've gotten two other eggs they were light creamy brown small soft shell eggs and then this darker brown one.

I'm thrilled though! three eggs in three days! Just wait till they get steady going!

If not the marans egg... then is it a NHR egg or a BR egg ?

My nhr lays a very oval brown egg so I'd say the one on the end was laid by your nhr?
