hello chicken people I am one of you now. I have a six week old Easter Egger, two four week old Easter Eggers (one with feathers on her feet what does this mean?), a four week old rhode island red, five week old black australorp, and five week old barred rock. I have never kept chickens before and I hope I p/o the neighbors though i am rockin the flock sans rooster they have already expressed how they feel and i ended up saying "we do live in the county"(just outside of the city limits) i was planning on giving them eggs for free but i think they may have to pay. can anyone tell me how many eggs a week i should expect with the hens i am keeping?
thanks for the helpful site.

from Vermont!

you'll probably get 2 - 3 dozen eggs a week for the first year, then the second year they may slow down just a bit.

nice to have you here

from California! You'll have more eggs than you can use, that's for sure. We also live in the county. I assured my one neighbor who might be disturbed by noise that we would not be getting a rooster. I like having good relationships with my neighbor and my "girls" say, "Who needs a rooster, anyway!" Good luck!
