Do I need to have the red plugs in my bator during lockdown? What does the temperature need to be at during the last 3 days? Thanks!! This is my first ever lockdown!!

I made my own bator so I dont know what the red plug is, sorry. I read from a hatching book that the tempt during the last 3 days should be lower to 98.5. I always left it around 99.5 just like the 1st 18 days and I usually have good hatching. So I am not sure it matters.

Good luck to you!! Your temp should stay the same, it's your humidity that needs to be bumped up to like 60-70%. Temp ranges on mine (my first hatch is right now!), are 99.5-100.5 , humidity at 69%. Happy hatching!!

Depends upon the type of incubator! Still or forced air?

In my LG you are supposed to put at least one plug in and maybe both. It keeps the humidity up. There are air holes for air circulation so the plugs I think are just for humidity regulation. If you read the link about "dry hatching" he puts one plug in.

Good Luck.

It is a still air incubator. Thanks!

I've got both of my red plugs in right now. Periodically, I'll open one up for about 10-15 seconds to draw some fresh air in. All this month, the humidity has been really high, until today, figures. Had a hard time getting the humidity back up as it is so dry outside. Luckily, the bator is right across the hall from the bathroom, so I fired up the shower on hot for about 10 minutes, and that raised the humidity in the bator!

My LG is forced air, so can't say for sure on yours. I guess it would depend on how well it's holding the humidity? Like put the plugs in if the humidity drops, or take one or both out if it gets too high.
