Ok, if he is new to your area.. you better catch him fast and keep him locked up for at least 5 months... peafowl that dont know where home is will not stay there... so if you wanna keep him, you have to have him locked up. He will not stay very long and you will have lost him.
Normal White peafowl pairs of a good age are between $200 and $300 depending on your location. You can find female peafowl, they are around $100 bucks, and you can mix the breeds if you personally like it.
Good Luck
I found that out today
He stayed in the yard the entire day, I leave for no more than 20 minuets and he takes off.
We did find him though, thanks to his calling. Took about an hour to catch him, both me and my dad are completely thorn-scratched but he's penned up now
Getting a bigger pen tomorrow when I have time to build one for 'em. He was NOT a happy bird!
My ducks sure where pleased that he was gone though...they strutted all over the yard
He didn't bother them one bit, they just didn't like him at all.
Edit edit; I live on the edge of town, with a chain-link fenced yard. It's not really free ranging, but everyone certainly has ample space. The ducks got a hefty sized pond liner to actually use as a pond. It's fun seeing the flock all floating around in it at once
