Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this site. Last year I got my first pair of peafowl. I've learned a lot over the past 12 months. Mostly I learned raising peafowl takes patients---but it's worth the effort. It took some time for them to warm up to me. Now they seem to get excited when I come out to see them. They grew and changed and made it through winter. This spring I started hearing the famous mating calls. (So far, no complaints from the neighbors) Then yesterday-------I got my first egg! My hen is two years old and the male only about a year and a half, so I'll still have to be patient. I look forward to watching him mature and hopefully I can get some fertile eggs next year. Then I can start a whole new lesson on patients if I try and hatch some.
