I went out to give my chickens some old tortilla this morning and I herd Penguin (my broody) going nuts. I went to check on her and I found 2 black chicks! She is a first time momma. Im actually shocked that they actually hatched at all. The chicks are 2 days early from what I now because it only day 19 but who cares, they are healthy and fluffy. There are now 3 chicks out of 9 eggs becuase one hatched when I went out to show my sister. But Im so excited! Here are a few pics:
Penguin is a sebright bantam cross and now a momma!

I was wondering one thing though: Is it okay if the other birds (1 roo and 4 hens) sleep in the hen house with Penguin and her chicks? Will she protect them from anyone who tries to peck them? She has the coop part all to herself while the others have the run but will they be okay to sleep together?

(Penguin and her chicks have the wood part of the coop all to themselves!)
Thanks For Looking!!!!
