This was my fist year raising BB turkey. They looked normal but I now have a 47 pound turkey to cook this week. I don't have the space in the oven or pan big enough to spachcock it. The plan is cut in half and do half in a roaster and half in the oven. Does anyone have any experience with this size turkey. I'm kind of concerned on the cooking time. I normally do a 20 pounder in a bag for 4.5 to 5 hours. Would this in half meet those requirements. The breast is huge so I'm thinking it still needs to cook through. Any advice appreciated.

Thank you

Can you part it out, and cook the breast(s) separately?

My husband is planning to smoke the breast part of our turkey this year, so I am going to cut the legs, thighs and wings off and roast those in the oven. (Just a 16 pounder from the store)

I'm going to try halving in and then possibly separating the legs if necessary. I just wasn't sure if they would reduce the cook time.
