So I put one of my calico frizzle bantams in my wooden brooder due to a bad peck wound. As life would go she thought it was time to settle down and build a family. I was a little concerned Because this was only her first year laying eggs much less incubating them. I only let my broodies brood if they have a good attitude. So time passed and she was a faithful sitter in only one spot with nothing underneath her. So finally after about two weeks of dealing with her, she passed my broody expectations. I gave her a calico bantam egg and an olive egger egg. I knew I made the right choice when as soon as I set the eggs down in front of her she immediately pulled them underneath her. I didn’t mark down the exact date I set them but I knew the due date was close. Then yesterday I opened the brooder to this sight! She is such a good mama and I’m so glad she hatched them out so well!
