I have 8 dominique hens that are a year old. I also have 16 speckled sussex chicks that I will be integrating this summer/fall.
I plan to move the newbies out to a chicken tractor in the garden in a few weeks. They will be able to free-range a little in the garden in approved areas that will be fenced off from tender veggies.
My older dominique hens free- range through the yard and will have opportunity to get aquainted with the new hens through the garden fence.
Do you think I will have any problems integrating them together after they've been able to see each other for a few weeks in this way?
I've heard horror stories, but I think with this kind of introduction and the fact that the young birds will out-number the older ones that I will be okay.
