Its Melissa. I live in a little town in WI called Casco. Only 500 people and we live outside of town. We wouldn't have it any other way. We live in the woods next to a river. Have a small house but a big barn, lol.
I am trying to post pics but it says I don't have permission. Any help would be appreciated.
Anyway, my friendly flock consists of:
1 Cochin hen, Her name is Truffle and she is our favorite.
1 Phoenix hen, She gave us our very first egg. I know it says that Phoenix are poor egg layers but I get an egg a day. Sometimes she takes Sundays off, lol. A day of rest.
3 White Leghorns, 1 cock and 2 hens
6 Buff Orpingtons, 1 cock and 5 hens
4 Barred Plymouth Rocks, all hens
5 Black Australorps, 1 cock and 4 hens (ordered all pullets but....surprise) Don't really want more roosters but he is a sweetheart and absolutely beautiful so we are going to take him to the fair next year.
American Breed Egg Layers:
1 black
2 browns
2 Sagitas but they couldn't be sexed so had to be ordered straight run and I ended up with cocks. They have to go but one of them is so sweet I might just keep him as a pet. The other is crabby and pecks at us. He might be supper, lol.
They share the barn and an outdoor run with:
Gus, a pygmy mix whose mother and twin died at birth. We were called from a perfect stranger who got my name and begged us to take him. He is blind in one eye but adorable and sassy. He was our first goat.
Gabby, another mix but we had to get Gus out of the house. He thought he was a dog. We picked Gabby up when they were both around 10 weeks old. Gus was actually scared of her and would hide behind our Golden Retriever. Now they are best friends.
Eliza, a purebred Nigerian Dwarf. She is the baby this year. Solid white, adorable.
Then we have Rascal who is a Dutch Rabbit. He got out of his cage and actually dug to get in with the goats. We didn't have the heart to put him back in his cage so now he lives with the goats and chickens. He's the boss!
Next are the rabbits:
2 Dwarf Hotots
1 Mini Blue Satin
1 Mini Rex
1 Mini Lop
1 Lion Head
Then we have a Golden Retriever named Tessa, and 2 cats, Twilight and Spicy.
Oh, I guess I need to mention also 3 Beta fish.
Wow, I never actually sat down and listed them before. My daughter is in 4-H and is constantly searching for new animals. Plus we take in rescues. Well that's it. Thanks for taking the time to get to know me a little.
