Wow, I think I spent, maybe $100 on nails, hardware, fencing, PVC and assorted other stuff. Even the roofing shingles were free from a demo job my neighbor just did.
I think I spent more on ways to water the birds. I tried the regular variety that would always foul. I now have a hanging fount that I got at
TSC and it also fouls. I just ordered nipple waterers on
ebay. Got 5 for $6 with free shipping. Going to use a PVC pipe with two nipples drilled into it, attach a short hose and use a 5 gallon bucket to feed the PVC. I even found a electric wire wrap that can be used to keep it warm in winter!
When I first started the build, I asked my neighbors and friends for lumber, which I would exchange for eggs! I have only 4 ladies and if they pop one egg a day means a dozen every 3 days!! That means a lot of extra eggs for my friends!
