My Free Hens

As I posed in my new member introduction - I got two free hens from a woman who was downsizing her flock (she was getting 70 eggs a day and decided to give away 24 hens, I took two).

Being a newbie, I didn't even think to ask what breed - but I am searching through my emails to see if I can contact her again and ask.

But in the meantime, here's a photo - I've been guessing Orpington based upon what is 'usually' posted/for sale in our area, but I've seen other photos of another breed that I thought it could be as well

They are most likely red sex links/red stars/red comets (all the same "breeds") but really they're just mix breeds that lay a lot of eggs

They look like Red Sexlinks, a hybrid egg laying ''breed''.

I agree. Red Sex Links are laying machines. You should get loads of large, brown eggs from them. )
