My hubby went out to work on the chicken coop today (we're remodeling an oooooooold coop) and he found 3 light brown eggs in the box we'd put out for the older birds (an ameracauna and an ameracauna-marans mix). I'm pretty sure that two of the eggs were from the same bird (we hadn't checked the box in two or three days because they hadn't started laying yet) based on the identical color. We got 10 chickens on June 29 and 30. Of the 10, 6 were 16 week old pullets. They've just turned 10 weeks, so, as you can imagine, I'm very excited that they're already laying!
