Please tell me that it's normal to not like layer pellets...after 3 days, my girls WILL NOT EAT THEM. AT. ALL. They are flinging them out, eating the grower stuff, I mixed it so those who were not laying yet could have food and those who were could eat also.....so here I sit with a 50# bag of layers........just wish I had gotten grower/finisher again and some oyster shell......argh.

I tried layer pellets, my girls absolutely HATED them! I actually had more wasted food with pellets then I do with layer crumbles because they shoveled them out on the floor looking for crumbles, and they didn't pick them up! So I mixed crumble with the pellets and we got through that bag but then I switched back to crumbles. They are so much happier and they really eat up those crumbles. I have the feeder on a piece of flat board and what little comes out gets picked up, very little is wasted. So crumbles it is for us!

Yep, going to try to sell this bag of pellets, and go back to crumbles....they have to eat, and I want them to eat whatever they will eat best. :) They are currently outside the coop, free ranging....finding all sorts of goodies! :)

You should try mixing the pellets with water to make them soft. I did that with my girl and they love it. I also mix some oatmeal, cracked corn even cereal with it. They chow it right down. Never know, it may work with yours. That way the bag you have wont go to waste. Good luck

Just about all of the chickens I have owned have disliked the pellets, so we now only feed them crumbles. I think that's the best way to go. Good Luck!

Same problem here. We bought some pellets with additional protein to try and solve a feather eating problem (didn't work). All I got were hungry chickens that laid small odd golfball shaped eggs. But I didn't try the pellets until they were well accustomed to the crumbles. Spoiled brats.

my chickens hate pellets they eat tons of layer crumbel tho. i wonder if the pellets our to big for them to eat easyely

Our girls are 17 weeks old this week.....went to check the feeders this afternoon........ALL CRUMBLES WERE GONE....all that was left was pellets! They went to bed full anyway...also free ranged for about 3.5 hours too.....so they were tired and full, rofl!

i let mine run aroun all day if im home but if im gone they stay in coop have lots of preders in our yard
