My Girls have learned to "go to bed" at night!

I'm such a proud chicken mom. Saturday night we were out until after dark. Got home about 8:30pm and I went out to get the girls in the coop and close the pop door. Lo & behold, my girls had put themselves to bed! So I just secured the coop door.

Last night I watched from the house to see if & when they would do it again. About 7:30 ish they started up the ladder and in about 5 minutes or so they were inside the coop again. So I went out and closed them up.

I'm so proud of my girls! They are 7 1/2 weeks old! lol

They follow my across the yard to go back and forth between their playpen and their coop! This just cracks up my DH! I am such a happy chicken mom and loving my feathered children.

YAY!!!!
I remember how excited I was the first time my girls did this too!!! When you are a first timer, you read so much online and in books about what SHOULD or COULD work, or even what ABSOLUTELY works for seasoned farmers, but until you actually try and succeed, you really dont know if it WILL in fact work for you, LOL So when something DOES actually work, you feel so proud!!!!!

When I was trying to teach them, nothing was working, until I read a suggestion saying if lit a light in the coop, the would go to it when it got dark. First time I tried it, it worked and I was shocked!!!! Two more nights with the light, and then no light after that and they were trained! I was so pleased!!!

Congrats to you and your babies!

Spot on. I remember thinking it was like magic. No way can it be this easy! But every night, sure as clockwork, they put themselves to bed. No warm milk, no bedtime story, go figure.
