Okay so my older 3 girls absolutely love when I get their feed wet. It's on accident of course but when I fill the duck waterers and pool I get the feed wet almost Everytime bc my house is messed up and does what it wants. So every time I get the feed wet my girls run straight for it and gobble it up like they've never eaten anything better. I always dump and give fresh dry food bc I know wet feed isn't good for them but I'm just curious as to why and if it's okay to let them eat a little wet?

Also I have 3 little about 12 week old silkies who want absolutely nothing to do with treats at all. They will pick at corn cobs from leftover dinner but they won't eat anything else at all.. is it just them or are silkies just picky? Should I try to get them to take more treats or just leave them be? If I should try what should I do?

Idk why but it won't let me go back and fix it. My hose is messed up not my house. Sorry!

I mean, I've never heard they can't have it. And I've certainly never had a problem.
I've heard too much wet food could cause fungal issues, but I think of that as things like fruit which can ferment very quickly.
I usually give them dry feed in the summer, but in winter they often get it warmed up a couple times a day.

Wetting feed is a pretty common practice. The key is to only wet as much as they will eat that day, and not more or else your feed will mold and the mold on feed grains can create toxins that will be harmful to your chickens health.

If in a hot and humid climate I would only wet as much food as they will able to eat within 30 minutes.

I give them wet food made with cold water and they gobble it up, it must feel good going down in this heat...like eating ice cream maybe. But I don't leave it in there, I just make enough that they'll eat it all right away.

Mine love wet feed, too. I've been using it as a treat to avoid fattening them up too much with real treats while still getting them excited  I imagine they like it because it goes down easier than the dry stuff. Also, wetting it makes its smell stronger, so it smells tastier (to me, too - it kinda makes me want to eat it, too :D) Like others have said, the only problem with wet feed is if it sits around too long and molds.

Okay. I'll definitely be giving them a little wet feed tomorrow! My poor daughter is gonna hate not being able to help but we're currently in the hospital with her broken wrist!! 😣

Aw, poor thing! I hope she recovers quickly and goes back to chickening :) My kids always want to give the chickens stuff, so the wet feed is very convenient for not overfeeding them with treats, while still letting the kids give them something "special" that the chickens will get hyped about. The kids also enjoy the process of wetting, stirring and "cooking" the mash (mine are young... such things are great fun for them ).
