Last week I was driving to town on a fast piece of road and was flashed by an oncoming motorist. I slowed thinking there would be a sheep on the road but found an old foxhound standing in my way!! I pulled around him and went on but knew he would get hit so turned around. Long story short - I took him to town to the dog warden. He had no microchip but a tattoo on his ear as the hunts do. He was very thin and old and the warden was not at all confident he would find the owner. I knew I had done the right thing but felt bad that he would have 9 days and then be put to sleep.
A few days ago the dog warden rang me to say he had a friend who takes in retired foxhounds and my old guy had gone to him and is doing really well with a nice home and proper food inside him!! I am so pleased that this has had a happy ending!!
