I've complained here before that every time I post here about some good behavior by my guineas, they immediately turn around and do the opposite. I think they are spying on my BYC usage.

I post they don't roost outside...two of them fly up into a tree that evening.
I post that they lay eggs in the coop...they stop.
I post that they have quieted down in their second year...they start to holler.

Well, now they have branched out to reading the chicken sections of BYC too.

I posted the other day in a thread about how different people maintain their waterers, explaining where ours are, how I clean them, etc. And I FOOLISHLY mentioned that my chickens don't walk in the waterers. Someone else had mentioned that theirs do it and I thought that was kind of weird, I had never heard of it before.

And what should my DH say as he walked in the door from work last night? "Hey honey, there's a guinea standing in the water bowl!"

I'm frightened. Can someone come and save me from my poultry?

Hint to administrators: You may want to start asking for thumbprints on all users...ya know, just to prove we all have thumbs. (Insert scary guinea footprint here)

You didn't know?.....there is an unwritten law that all animals must, at all times, make their owner a liar. Happens all the time here! It's just the way things are. Tell someone your birds are friendly, and at least one will attack them...my birds are laying good, and the next day not one egg to be found, etc etc etc. Welcome to the world of animals!

Time for a little reverse psychology... Talk about all of the bad things they do like you are really proud of them and, just like any kid, they'll start doing just the opposite so they can be contrary. Voila!!! You've got your birds doing exactly what you want, they think it's their idea, and everyone's happy.

The one thing I have learned about guineas is that they never do what you think they are going to do! Their brain must be about the size of a pea. I alwaws said it take six guineas to = 1 brain! They are a hoot.
