My ever-growing chicks quickly outgrew the kennel I started them in. Move them to a nice large trough Thursday. Now the bigger ones can escape the heat if it's too much.

They've had a roost since they were two weeks old and 4 to 5 of them used it regularly. (Especially my BR rooster, who's the first to do everything.) Felt the need to build one in their new home. Doesn't sound like much, but proud I did this on my own.

You have the right idea to have heat lamp at one end. This provides a warm zone and a cool zone. The chicks find their place of comfort themselves. Do you have a coop for them yet???
