My hen has 2 out of 4 hatched!

Thursday(04/22) was the official day 21 for my hen's setting. I heard a teeny "peep", but she wouldn't budge more than an inch to show his head! He( looks like a roo's comb 4 sure) , he's as black as his momma, a Black Australorp.

Chick #2 appeared today! Momma seems more relaxed and proud to show Dh & I her babies. #2 is gray-just like daddy's chest- OEGB (Old English Game Bird) daddy was strutting his stuff & crowing to all the county! momma is still setting, there's 2 eggs remaining, guess I'll wait 2 more days? These 2 chix are huddling near mom in the nest and tasting the crumbs from her food.

These two infants are up & climbing the nest, nipping on an apple, and tasting the crumbs in momma's seeds. 0.5 days, & 1 day old, chickens sure do grow & learn fast!

6: 15 PM, I just saw a pip on one of those that last eggs! and I could hear tapping once the egg was held at my ear! I think I'm more excited than momma hen , sure am curious to see what #3 looks like.
