I bought a Turken chick from a locla hatchery that was supposed to be a hen. Well, it is definately a roo. Has anyone run across this happening too? Has your hatchery compensated you for the mistake?

I hate it when that happens!

Hatchery's usually guarantee their sexing up to a certain percentage rate. Usually somewhere between 95% and 98%. You could always call the hatchery and tell them you were supposed to have a pullet, but it's grown into a cockerel instead and see if they will compensate you or even replace the chick. You never know if they will do anything about it until you ask.

It happens...my roo was ordered as a pullet. Unfortunately sexing them is not 100% accurate and if you only got one...that is not bad. Contact them, they will probably offer a refund or a new chick.
