My hen is missing feathers.

My hen is missing feathers on both sides of her head - below her eyes - and I have no idea what it is. She was hanging out with me as I was cleaning the coop - away from the rest of the flock. There seems to be some crustiness in those areas, but I am not sure if that is just the feathers. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

This is a first for me to see so I was not sure. She seems to be the only one doing this. I have read that it usually happens in the fall so I thought the timing might be off also. Thank you for your response.
