I have two Frizzle houdan hens. Recently when they were free roaming I noticed something weird sticking out of my hens foot, so I picked her up and had a closer look. They both have always had 5 toes, that is a breed characteristic, but now on either foot she has six toes. They were never there before. And they are not spurs. I know that hens can think they are roosters and grow spurs, but she grew two extra toes that were never there before. One of the toes also looked flat. It was really gross. Can someone tell me if this is a normal thing?
here are some pictures.

It's a common genetic mutation in the 5-toed breeds. Don't introduce it into your gene pool.
Yes I thought so,
but she is almost three and never had them before. Is it actually possible for them to grow, because I am positive they were not there when she was younger.........
