My hen was attacked. She can't stand up. :(

I let my dog out with the chickens today and he cornered one of them.

He must have had her by the leg/wing, because she is basically gimpy on one side of her body. I brought her back into the house in our dog cage with some soft bedding and water and food, but she is just panting and laying there. I've tried dipping her beak to cool her down and get her to drink, but she has zero interest. Did I lose her for good? I am feeling so incredibly sad (and guilty). She is a little thing--a 6 week old Welsummer.

Make sure she stays hydrated. Do you have a medicine dropper or syringe? When my birds are nqr, I bring them in and give them vitamin water by the drop. Put the drop on the beak so it "slips" into the mouth. Go slow and make sure they're swallowing as you give the water.

I'd keep her in a dark quiet place and go from there. Good luck.
