My neighbors informed me that one of my hens was hit by a car today. Apparently she bounced off the windshield and walked away. She was seen with the rest of my birds afterwards, but I can’t find her now. Where would a wounded bird go if she’s still around?

She may have had internal injuries that caused her to go down or separate herself at some point. First thing in the morning, I would be out before daylight putting food and water out for her in case she roosted in a bush or on a fence nearby. Look around in your and your neighbor’s yard. Hopefully, she is alive, and may have just separate herself.

Fingers crossed she'll be back in the morning. I don't know what I'll do with her, but I'll be happy to have her back. So hens will separate from their flocks when injured and roost away from their coop? That was one possibility I thought of when searching but I don't know enough yet to know what's the more common behaviour.
This hen is usually the first to chase us down for food so hopefully going out in the morning will attract her attention and we can see how she's doing.

I got her, she came out this morning to join the others. She’s acting more skittish and while she’s walking just fine it’s clear she’s been hurt.
I have her in a dog carrier right now, I’ll call the vet when they open and see if they’ll see her.

Great news on finding her. I would look her over for any puncture wounds, scrapes, or large wounds. Use a disinfectant such as Vetericyn or other brand of wound spray, Betadine, or saline to clean the wounds. Then apply plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment twice daily. Keep her away from flies. She may be pecked if her wounds are visible to the other chickens, so separate if necessary.

Can she stand and walk okay? Just the fact that she has returned may be a good sign that she will recover. Good luck and I hope she is okay.

Thank you all for the advice. I found another vet, she was looked at and the vet says she’s okay. No internal damage or abrasions, just a bit of bruising and soreness. She’ll be just fine.
I’ll be keeping an eye on her anyway. I’m just really glad right now.
