Two of our hens, hatched out baby chicks a little over six weeks ago. The chicks are all fully feathered and seem to be doing great but my two mothers are still hovering around them and beating up my other two, adult hens anytime they come close, still. How long is this going to go on? It shows no sign of stopping and the babies are still getting up underneath the mothers at night even though they are fairly large. Is this something that I will need to take care of myself or will they eventually come out of it? Both of the mothers are 4 1/2 years old and don’t lay much anymore.
