My hens are losing their back feathers, and or top of back feathers and some are even losing feathers off their wings (joint distal to their shoulder).
Help!!! Normal...something wrong...or rooster just too friskey?

Could be a molt, could be rooster damage or it could be feather picking. How old are your chickens? Do you have a rooster? How much space do your hens have? What are you feeding them? If you could answer those questions, we might be able to help you better. Also, if you could post a picture that would help a lot too!

I have 16 hens, 1 rooster. Coop is 9'x6' and the covered run is 10'x21' and 7' tall. They have layer pellet and cracmes corn with fresh water everyday. Also have 15 nests. I will post a picture soon.
Thank you
Tony

How old are they? It could be that they are molting but it could still be rooster damage (although with 16 hens it is not at the top of the list if all of them have missing feathers). Please post a photo. I really think that will help. Have you noticed the hens picking feathers off each other?

I have the same problem and have yet to figure out why this is happening to my hens. When you find out please let me know so that I may help my hens if possible.
