I have 8 hens at the moment that aren’t broody. The weather has been incredibly hot 30 degrees for the last few days, the girls are laying less and less, between 3 and 4 in the last fortnight and only 1 yesterday. Are they laying elsewhere or is it the weather? Help!

Could be either......or ramping down production and soon to molt.

Hi aart

Thanks for the info, really clear too, how did you know I was terrible at following instructions? 🤣

So, now you know I’m from the UK and we’ve had very warm still weather. Nothing has moved, not a leaf, the humidity is high. It has been like this for a week possibly. They are not used such warm temperatures, they have their wings spread out to cool them down.

I have attached a photo of the girls coop. The ventilation holes have been kept open. They are let out when the sun rises, which is a second caged area until approx 7am. (When Mr Fox isn’t about) they are then released on to approx acre of an island surrounded by calm water. It is a very relaxing environment to be in.
