My hens seem to only want dried meal worms!

I started giving my hens an handful of dried meal worms with their daily feeding of the store bought chicken scratch but they don't seem to eat the scratch anymore. They are crazy for the worms. Are they getting enough to eat?? Should I discontinue the worms?

Discontinue all the treats until they are eating their complete balanced diet. Only offer treats sparingly once they are eating their proper diet consistently.

hi and welcome to BYC. I would suggest feeding proprietary chicken feed and cutting out feeding the worms.

Hmm. I know people sometimes call feed “scratch”, so my eyes skipped over it - is the WHOLE diet just treats?

Welcome to BYC. Provide a balanced diet for the appropriate stage of life and provide any treats (that includes scratch) as an absolute minimum.
