YAY!
I had to sell my sex links because they were getting picked on by the older birds. But the rest are all happy in their new coop and temporary run!
I bought a solar powered motion sensor light for the front of the coop, and a two connected solar powered LED landscaping lights are on the inside of the coop so I can see at night if I have to go in. So far the lights work great! The birds spend their time outside during the day, and when the sun moves behind the trees in the evening, the coop cools off enough for bedtime. I got the windows for free off of Freecycle and Craig's list. (Thank you donors!) Now if they'll just start laying eggs! 1 month to go! I've got 2 nest box bins ready, and as soon as I see the first egg, I'll put up two more. Otherwise, I put a covered kitty litter box with pine shavings outside the coop in their run, just in case. I've got the metal trashcan inside with the feed in it- Thanks for the suggestion. Now we just have to finish the stairs and chicken door.

Thanks for all your help peeps!

solar idea is great I have been using solar landscape lights around the house for two months and all but one do well, I would like to wire one with a timer so it comes on in the coop early in the morning.

Well done. I already ordered my solar motion lights and such for my coop and run area.....great idea and glad to know that they work pretty well.
