I would have to say that the leghorn laying brown eggs is not a leghorn. Not sure what breed it might be but if you post pictures I am sure someone could help you with the breed.

pics please..leghorns lay white eggs.White legs lay snow white eggs.Colored leghorns lay more of a very lightly tinted egg that will many times look white until you compare it to a white. However none lay any shade of brown...there are white chickens that lay brown eggs though...white rocks Rhode Island White and others

I'm confused here too... my leghorns are laying, I have 20 of them, and also 15 black jersey giants that are younger, only about 3.5 months old. I am getting both large white and small brown eggs. Is it possible the giants are laying already???? Ok, I know where their ears are, but where exactly is the earlobe?

I hatched five hens from a leghorn white and mine look like mama but three lay brown eggs two lite brown one darker but daddy is mixed (Cochin/maran) and I have always been told dads dad determines egg color. Anyone else ever heard this? Either way they are big beautiful eggs and I hatched them so I am happy.
