Okay, just one chicken I haven't determined the gender. She is approximately between 13-15 weeks old. She's still getting feathered in, especially her back, and her comb isn't super dark or very red. I'm confused. Thoughts?!?!?!

Looks a little fancy to be a female.

On the other hand, it has a very red face, one I typically think "female" when I see it.

Sorry, I wasn't much help.

Thanks for chiming in. I always see people talking about saddle feathers? Anyone know what those are and if she has them?

No mystery in that one. It's a rooster. Saddle feathers are the shinny, slim feathers that hang down over the sides in front of the tail. He is late in developing because that's common to his breed, but I am sure it's a rooster.

I think he is a cockerel. He has shiny dark feathers on his wings and usually females are more uniform in color.

Saddle feathers will be the ones hiding under his wings. If you can get a pic without the tips of his wings tucked near his tail, maybe we can see them.
