I feel coop envy after seeing all these fantastic coops here and then looking at my coop.

But I am very proud of it and I have done all the work myself with my own tools.

Soon after starting this project I realized how tiny this little coop is and decided I need another coop! So this one will be for the bantams.
It will have a run also but first have to finish the coop.

I bought plans because I am a champ at following directions. Not so much when I think it up on my own.
The plans are the city biddy coop.

Here is the chicken door side. I have the back, and the people door side done as well. Tomorrow I put those three on the base and start the nest boxes for the front. I think that will be the most difficult part. Wish me luck!

Oh I used leftover paint from when we did my son's room, blue and grey. And the inside is leftover from the living room colors and two other little small quarts of colors I had bought and didn't like. I mixed them all up and it looked nice, kind of creamy.

That looks awesome!! Must be great to be able to say I did this all myself! Can't wait to see it all together - good luck!

Hey Okie--nice job! I, too, have limited skills and managed to build my silkie house without losing any fingers to the saws. It doesnt have a square wall but its snug, safe and dry and looks pretty good. Thank goodness for trim! Make sure you post picks of the finished coop so we can all see and admire it! Be proud of your skills cause you can say "I built this!"

The colour is great. Good luck with your project...

Thank you. I am currently at a stop right now. I tried to swap out a jigsaw blade I had just used not thinking it would be hot! I am soaking left fingers in cold aloe vera gel and typing with right. It hurts! I foresee blisters.

Nearly finished with the nest box. I have to do some work on the lid and add another little perch because after they tested it for me I realized it's a big step for them. With their bad feet they aren't very good at roosting either. Here are the girls christening the nest box by promptly pooping in them.

They seem to approve though.
