My little egg died

It was the only egg laid by my black silkie hen, it was a jet black color. It was fully developed and was chirping just hours before I cracked it open. It was dead when I ploped it out. It was supposed to hatch 6 days ago. Do I just plop open eggs on day 22 that have not hatched yet into the brooder?

Candle the eggs to see what is going on. If you are needing to assist please look up the article about how to. If the chicks are not pipping on their own they might not be strong enough to survive outside the egg. Next hatch you may want to use another thermometer to make sure the eggs are warm enough.
