Two weeks ago I mistakenly left the coop open overnight, I awoke at 3am to hear my male guinea making his awful sound (those who have guineas know what I mean). In the morning I found two large piles of feathers near the edge of the woods. For the past two weeks my female guinea has been wandering around calling out, I can only guess how scared and lonely she was (we only had the pair).
Last night I went out to close the hen into her coop, as I peeked in to make sure she was home I saw two guineas. There is almost no possibility that she found a new mate, this is our missing guinea. Where has she been for 10-14 days? Did he escape from his attacker? was he hiding in the woods until he was healed. did he fly off in the night and get lost? I had counted him as dead and he is back. I had almost given away our lone hen, and would have if someone had replied to our ad on kijiji.
He looks fine, a little quieter, skinnier and more shy, but back together again. I can't believe that he could spend 10-14 days out there!
