My lovely mystery chick

Hi, sticking out like a sore thumb in my batch of black, gray and brown chicks was this lovely yellow chick. I’m fairly sure it’s a hen because she is sooo docile and very well developed wing feathers but I can’t figure out what breed. Maybe Whiting true green? So adorable though. Eyeliner with brown wing tips, otherwise yellow but undercoat is brownish. Does anyone have any chicks like this?

Temperment and feathers mean nothing for gender. Where did you get your batch?

Probably some kind of Easter egger, of which Whiting true green is one type. Much too early to sex. 6 weeks is a good starting point for that.

That has not been my experience in many years of chicks but Thanks Though… I’m asking about the breed

That is also my best guess. We love her! My group of Wyandotte’s has one with minimal wing feathers all the same length at the head of the group jumping into my hand while the rest with well developed long wing feathers hang back more cautious at 3-5 days old…. I ordered 1 rooster. Im sure there is NO correlation….. anyway I have probably 90% early accuracy with baby chick sex by lots of observation and wings at least within the same breed. But I was curious about the breed of this chick. I know the sex. I didn’t know Easter eggars to be so docile. We tend toward larger dual purpose breeds. Thanks!
