My Mallard duck lyed eight eggs then stopped?

Hi all my Mallard laid eight eggs then nothing for five days? is she finished now will she sit I think this is her first time laying the other ducks havent even started laying yet they use aly start around this time every year but its still coldish could that be the problem? also she laid a egg in her pond it couldn't of been there more than a few minutes cause it wasnt there when i washed the pond I only saw it when I went to turn of the tap after refilling will it still hatch? I put it in her nest just in case

My mucovies do that frequently. Ducks don't seem to lay daily. I don't think it's really possible to figure out why. My Pekins last year were pretty consistent, but that was just random chance. Also, the duck sitting on them and hatching them seems kind of random too. I really wish there was way to know, but I haven't found any patterns in five years of having ducks.
