My Muscovy Hen Bleenie has adopted the 4 ducklings that are 8 weeks old!

Bleenie has been on a nest of eggs for a month, during that time I've had 4 scovie ducklings in the pen as well. Bleenie and nest in one duck house, the ducklings in the other duck house. Well 4 of her eggs were rotten and she tossed them out for me, sadly 3 days ago she abandoned the other 4 (I candled them and the ducklings were not as far along as they should have been, also no movement at all. She will have nothing to do with the eggs and has adopted the four ducklings as her own. She took them into the swimming pool and sends them to bed at dusk then goes in herself and lays with them. I had put the eggs in the incubator but they started to smell this morning so they have been tossed. This Gal just loves being a Mamma so I guess she knew something wasn't right and decided she'd be a Mamma one way or another LOL I love this Gal SO much!

Good for her. Maybe she didn't want to deal with all the poopy diapers of newborns and figured she'd get some that were a little older.

Its great that she is willing to show them the ropes.
