i picked up six bantams friday at the tsc. yesterday i noticed one acting really off. it had a bad case of the pasty butt, like totally pooed over!! i cleaned it off really well and have been trying to hand feed a little. poor little thing isnt doing much and seems to be having a hard time keeping balance. besides keeping it warm and trying to get it to eat is there anything else to do,i feel really bad!! they have had the pasty butt all along but my electric was out and they where at the neighbors for about 15 hours and i didnt catch it!!

woke up this morning and the por little thing was dead! i have never had a chick die so this is sad for us,although i did feel like it was suffering and im glad its not anymore

Try making it some mash instead of just dry food and water. Sometimes bantams have a hard time with crumbles at first. Also, mash is easier to get them to eat. You can make it really watery and dip their beak in it so that they are getting some nutrients in with the water. Maybe separate it, put it in its own little box with heat, a mirror, and a stuffed animal?

that is how i have been feeding it,at first it was fine with the crumbles but seems to have taken a turn for the worse. i havent seperated because it seems to be ok with the other chicks, noone is pecking and it seems to enjoy the company. it does peep and perk up when i take it out to feed it. im just hoping that it needs a little extra attention and will perk up soon!
