Ive just brought 1 lavender leghorn 10 days old , not sure what sex it is but it wont stop chirping, it is in the heat box with my other chicks , it is eating and drinking , could it just be nervous it hasnt been handled before, I keep sitting it on my chest and gently stroking it then it struggles like mad until I calm it again , could anything be wrong with it , ive decided to name it chirp , im feeling anxious now :(

Could there be anything stressing it out? Stress is one of the worst enemies of chick health. Is your lamp giving them enough heat?

I think so three chicks are sleeping under the lamp and three are in the middle scratching about , chirp is just running around doesnt seem to settle for long , I wonder if its a Cockerell ? thanks for reply

It sounds like they are getting enough heat then. Is there anything that could be stressing them out- A.K.A.
A cat is stalking their brooder, loud music is playing, ETC.

We do have a dog and yes we have the tv on , maybe thats it , I have them in the conservatory with us , they were kept in heat boxes in a shed when I collected them I dont suppose theve had any exposure to household noises , chirp is sleeping peacefully now on my lap with one of the other chicks , maybe it will be more settled tomorrow , thanks so much for the help , these are my first chicks , so I have much to learn :)
