I started out last year with 6 white leghorns and my grandpa had 11 hens and 2 roosters. after a bad year with predators (owl, oppossums, snakes) we are down to 2 leghorns 2 roosters and one of grandpas hens.
yesterday i went around the junkyard and collected materials. 25 plastic bread trays, some wire and a 2x4. An hour later my run was done. it has a cover from a lawn mower basket for a nesting box. on the end is a smaller pen for my 2 3 week old leghorn biddies. when they are big enough i will expand the pen to give the 4 girls a bit more room.
