I just bought these from a local farmer yesterday:

They're filthy inside and a bit rotten in a few places round the bottom edges, but I think I'll be able to patch them up okay.

If they don't fall apart when I pressure steam clean them, that is!

That is a great starting package. You did good!. Alot easier to start with something started,LOL. Definatly need more ventilation I think. All the best, and show us your finished coops.

They are wonderful. I'm sure they will hold together through your cleaning, as long as you don't clean with a hammer

I have a farmer down the road with a falling down chicken coop. As soon as it hits the ground I am going to ask if he would like me to remove it for him for free... and put it up on my property.

They're pretty smart, aren't they! I paid £150 for both of them which felt like a lot, but is WAY less than the £200 I paid for the first shed I turned into a coop last year. Of course that was brand new, but these are much better quality, even if they are a bit mouldy.

The tin roof sits up off the walls so there's a few inches of a gap the whole way round the sides. I thought that looked okay for ventilation. It's pretty much the same style as the coop I've already got. I don't like cutting holes in walls unless absolutely necessary cause it's so darn rainy and windy here and the water gets into everything. I'll get them sited and tidied out and then reassess thoiugh. Thanks for the advice.

I don't know... I'm going to have to be really careful... I'm not sure what psi our jetwash goes at but it can lift tarmac in chunks if you hold it too close...

Yes, they were. If you look closely you can see the pop holes beside the doors. They're kitted out already with nest boxes and roosts inside, but I don't like the layout and the lids on the boxes are broken, so I'll probably change them around a bit inside to suit what I want better.

The place I got them from has a few diffferent breeds of chickens, as well as guinea fowl and peafowl

They were all free ranging and running about his fields when I went to collect my coops. The peafowl are beautiful, I'd really like some. He said he hadn't had any luck with chicks as his peahens all tried to nest outside last year and hid their eggs all over the farm. So I've offered to incubate this year's eggs for him in return for a small percentage of the chicks. He does have an incubator himself, not sure why he hasn't tried it yet. He said he'd rather use a broody, but, if he hasn't got an obliging hen... I may be in with a chance!
