Feels like Christmas! First time ordering by mail. I’m so nervous. Post office is supposed to call but what if they don’t? What if they get lost and die! #duckmotheranxiety
You certainly look ready to get the temperature right. We have all read the horror stories about ducklings getting lost in the mail but more often than not things go right. Call your local post office first thing in the morning to let them know what you have coming. It will help you feel less helpless and alert them of the situation.Good luck and we are expecting pics soon.
I'm going to be straight with you... Your justified for worrying.
I just had 3 ducklings and 5 chick's delivered over 2 months ago on the same day from the same supplier.
I was first in line at the post office because we usually get our mail late evening..
Long story short... They found my ducklings but not my chick's. Two hours later after I went back to work they delivered my chick's but left them on the front step in full sun without even ringing the door bell. Lucky my son was home and looked outside to see what the dogs were barking at.
I was not a happy person .
I paid way to much in shipping for it to be that stressful.
But the good news they all are a live and happy.
Do you have save a chick to help deal with the stress of shipping.
Any news yet? Oh and turn your brooder box around so your light isn’t directly Over feed and water. Temp should be around 85-87 first week then lower 5 degree each week there after. They’ll let you know if they are too cool by huddling under the light or too hot by getting away from the light. A thermometer will help you keep track of temps. Warm water in waterer first week too.
