I just purchased a hen that showed absolutely no sign of disease or infection prior to buying her. After bringing her home I noticed right away she has very foul smelling discharge (yellow) from her nose. I purchased Tylan 200 because that is all Tractor Supply here carries. How Should I dose her? I read somewhere 0.5ml once then again after 48 hours. Is that it? How long and how often should I inject? THANK YOU

Go ahead and start injecting her with the tylan. If there's no improvement in about 3 days, give her sulfadimethoxine. It will require a prescription from a vet. Or you can purchase SMZ-TMP in this link without a prescription. Just follow the instructions on the label.

However if there IS improvement with the tylan, no need to buy a sulfa drug.

Keep in mind that respiratory diseases are very contagious to other birds. Surviving birds are carriers for life. Medications only mask symptoms and stress can bring out symptoms again and will require continuing treatments. You will have to maintain a closed flock. No new birds in, no birds out.

This is an important point to keep in mind.
