My new nestbox.

So its not perfectly square, and the slope of the lid isnt right(actually the lid isnt attached yet) but it is functional and I did it all by myself. I had two nestboxes attached to the inside wall that I took out to give them more floor space. Now I dont have to go into the run and coop to get the eggs.

How are you going to keep water from getting in the hinge side? I just built a similar nest box on the outside and am wondering how to keep the rain water from getting in there. I have overhang above it, but if the rain is blowing in from that side I foresee water getting in.
 
I have a piece of siding left over from my parents remodel that i am going to put above the hinge. Kinda like flashing. I wont screw it in tight so it will flex when I open the lid.
 
Good idea with the flashing. I actually have some rolled aluminum that I could bend for that. Thanks!!
 
If it works who cares how it looks !!!! It looks good from my house . GREAT JOB DON'T LET ANY ONE TELL YOU YOU CAN'T DO SOMETHING.
