I just made a nipple waterer today. I've had my chickens for less than an month and am already tired of the messy water!
Here are a couple pics. A few took to it within seconds. I will see if they all are on board over the next couple of days before I remove the traditional waterer.

Great system, but a word of advice...remove all other waterers! This will force your stubborn ones to use the new system. Don't worry...they WILL use it...like your setup!

Thanks! It was a pig or small animal pen.
My only cost was minimal PVC and the nipples ($22 for 20).
Considering the age (youngest are about a month old) would you still remove the other waterers?
Or that even more reason to remove them?

My sister was showing me these poultry nipples online the other day, the way you have them set up is very nice! I get so tires of my hens scratching dirt into their watered, even while it's elevated, silly things. I need to do this kind of a watering system! Very clever how you put the bucket on top of the coop!

Thanks, they were on amazon, 20 for $21.99 with free/ quick shipping. I left the black tubing on the inside so I can raise it up as the chickens grow...
Also, I don't have to worry about freezing as I am in SW Florida. Very rarely do we get a frost much less anything that would freeze the bucket. As I grow out more chickens, I will use the others side (where my Sheep are now) and probably use the same bucket and just split it off. They share a roof and middle wall (as seen in the last pic).

Man, we need one of these. Our chickens always knock the water over and we always gotta fill it back up

This is what I made for my soon-to-be layers...I'm 70 years old, by myself...I drilled the 3/8" holes with my handy-dandy drill and screwed them in about 1.5" up from the bottom. Easy-peasy, nice 'n easy! NO more changing water every day...NO more wet flooring...NO more crap in the water dishes for me!

You'll notice that my "horizontal" nipples are not the cup-style with that yellow doo-hickie in them...I had trouble with those. Likewise, the "vertical" nipples have too much chance of dripping. So I found these at

You can also purchase the whole bucket system from them, too...just look around the site. Good luck!!
