They are starlings! They were given to me and they are tame and beautiful. Here's some eye candy!


They are 4 years old and are a male and female. Their names are Murray (F) and Redd (M).


They even mimic what I say on occasion in a little squeaky voice.

Hey those are really pretty. Is it common for starlings to be pets? Don't think I've ever heard of that before.

Neat that they 'talk'. Glad that you like them! Who raises starlings?


Around here we call them flying rats, and since they are an introduced species,driving out other native bird species often taking over the other birds' existing nests, we shoot them by the dozens.
Im not sure about pet birds, but I know that their feces can carry lots of bacteria, fungal agents and ectoparasites. They are responsible for a host of serious diseases, including histoplasmosis, encephalitis, salmonella, meningitis, toxoplasmosis and more.
