I just started working on this yesterday. I asked a friend who owns a fabric shop to pick out 4 pieces of material for me. I wanted purple, green, yellow, and white, and I got the fabric on Wednesday. It was EXACTLY what I have been searching for and couldn't find!

I was so excited!
This is the fabric-it looks blue, but is actually a rich purple.

And this is my first block-it is called "Antique Tile" from http://www.quilterscache.com/A/AntiqueTileBlock.html

It is a very simple block to make-which is why I chose it! This will be my first attempt at a quilt. I have done many blocks, of all different patterns, and I did a "Bug Jar" for my son (top is finished, but I may just knot it instead of quilting), and a "Rail Fence" for one daughter (same story). This will be a queen-size that I am going to quilt.

The colors are more accurate in this picture.
We have a 3-day family reunion every two years, held in different states. This year will be in North West Illinois. It has always been held at a campground for no charge to the attendees, but everyone brought items for an auction, which raised money for the next reunion. Things like a jar of jam often brings $10-12, and homemade or sentimental items are especially appreciated! Last reunion was in Colorado in 2010, and because of the economy and distance, many of us didn't make it. This year the auction fund was so low that, for the first time, we are having it at a hotel, and each family is paying for their own lodging. I am making this quilt as my donation to the auction, and I hope it brings in a significant amount for next reunion which is to be held in either PA or OH. They are talking about changing the frequency of reunion to every 3, 4, or even 5 years, instead of every two years, and I don't want to see that happen. This side of my family is one I almost never get to see, and this reunion is anticipated by EVERYONE who attends!

Thank you! I have the blocks just about finished, and will be putting a green sash between each one. I will get a picture when the top is finished for you to see.

Yesterday we went to Cincinnati to the Creation Museum and I also picked up a FREE quilting frame that I found on Craigslist!

The lady bought it last year online and has never even used it!
