My new watering system (PICS)

What you need is a thicker area for the threads... so I would recommend that you get yourself a piece of pipe that is a size larger ( if 1/2" get 3/4"diameter and thicker wall), cut off a piece about 2 inches, then cut that piece leangthwise so that you have 2 halves of pipe. Next, glue that half piece over the existing hole using pipe glue. Next, redrill and then thread a new hole ( be careful not to drill into the existing hole) and use the teflon tape on the nipple thread and voila, no more leaks.

I didn't do a thing but let them sit. Half of them "healed". The other half always have a bead of water at the nipple. I'm okay with that for now. Next time I'll use thicker pvc for sure.

Love it. Will put dh to work on it this weekend . Thanks.

I have one question about these nipple waterers:

Does it constantly have a drop on the end of it or do the birds have to actualy suck on it to get water out? lol sorry

If they work good, I might buy a few of the and try them out!

Cody!!

First let me say I cannot for some reason view the pictures. So I am not sure if your "nipple" waterers look like what I call a valve waterer. I have the valve waterers hard plumbed into my guinea pig cages. They are gravity flow from a large tank on top of the cages.

I did just get an order of the cup waterers from Cutler in for our quail cages. I sure hope they work. Same type concept, but they are soft plumbed (rubber 1/4 hose) and directly plumbed into the water hose/well. I also have the round red float type waterers for the larger quail cages. I like them, but hate cleaning them! LOL

Ok, it is kind of like my one for the guinea pigs. I don't have pics and won't have time until next week to get them. I have actual valves that screw into a saddle pipe fitting that you can glue into a 1/2 inch piece of hard pvc piping. My girlfriend uses them for her rabbit barn and has put on on the floor for her silkies and Easter Eggers. Evidentally they are loving them and using them fine. I figured the drink cups would work better for quail as they would catch some if they made it drip. I am hoping they don't overflow them, but time will tell. When I get all the cages, watering system and the drop wash pans finished I will take a picture of my quail barn. It has been slow going getting it how I wanted.
